Phrsal Vebs
There are several types of phrasal verbs:
-Transitive and intransitive
-Separable and inseparable
Transitives vs Intransitive
Verb => Adverb / Preposition => Object
The difference is that in intransitives it is not necessary that the connection between object and Adverb / Preposition
Transitive Intransitive
The teacher called on sleeping student. We often eat out.
The police are looking into the crime. He was too tire to get
Separable vs Inseparable
Verbs => Adverb / preposition => Direct Object
Separable:
-He put his jacket on and left
-Could you turn the tv on, please?
Inseparable:
-I am lookin after my newhew tonight.
A real life example can be found in Kelly Clarkson's 2004 song Breakaway:
