Present Perfect progressive

In this lesson we are going to review the present perfect progressive.

The present perfect progressive El shows a continuity between a relationship or an action that began in the past and continues to develop until now.

The structure of this time is:

Subject + has / have + been + Verb (ing)

Examples:

-She has been swimming for thirty minutes.

-She has been swimming since 1:00.

To use "not" we use the following structure:

Subject + has / have + not + been + Verb (ing)

Example

-She has not been swimming.

An example from real life can be found in Foreigner's song "Waiting for a girl lije you". We can find an example in the part that says:

"I have been looking too hard, I have waiting too long"

(taken from Waiting for a girl like you-Foreigner from 1981)
