Past Perfect Tense
It refers to a time before the recent past. We use it to indicate that one event occurred before another in the past tense.
Its structure is as follows:
Subject + had + Verb Past Participle
To ask questions at this time we use the following structure:
Wh + Had + Subject + Past Participle Verb +?
Examples
-When we arrived, the movie had started
-Why had she chosen to do her home stay in Alaska?
An example in real life can be found in the song called "My girl" by Madness:
"We had got it straight"
